Had a chance to try Ulavacharu at the restuarant and so glad I did! We went here for the family dinner and it was a nice experience to try the Thursday Dinner buffet where you could try so many different food options. Once we sat down we went to the buffet where there was a variety of different South Indian dishes, appetizers and both veg and no veg options for all. Some of the ones I enjoyed was the Andra style chicken curry and the goat/chicken biryanis. There was also menu vada and podi idlis that were enjoyable as well as mango lassi. It was nice that they were giving butter naan hot to the table that went well with the different curries. Overall the food was good and service was decent. It is a more relaxed ambiance I would say, but it was nice that there was so many people there you could tell the food was on the fresher side! Good to experience atleast once!

Best Buffet probably you can find in Sunnyvale, CA. I am from Southern CA where we kind of dried out on great Indian buffets. We were on a trip to northern California and my relatives recommended me this place as best place for Indian buffet, we decided to try it. The place looks small from outside but inside they have huge seating area and extended seating are I am guessing this only for weekend. The lines were huge, please don't remember to fill at least 2 plates :-) otherwise you will end up standing in the queue for most of the time. Buffet starts with lots of Vegetarian Items followed by a section for non-vegetarian which also has huge selection of varieties. Surprised to see so many different vegetarian items, the Vegetarian food along with Samosa chat was amazing. When it comes to non-veg The Tandoori chicken and mutton pulav was simply amazing along with others.

I used to enjoy the Saturday buffets here when I lived in the Southbay. When I moved north to the Peninsula, I was bummed as I have not seen a comparable place, even in San Francisco. Last night, I decided to come with my GF prior to picking up my parents at SJC. We each had the unlimited thali. She had the non-veg and I had the veg. You can't beat the value Ulavachar provides. For $17.99, you get unlimited food served with your thali. The service is even more impressive. Soon after placing the thali trays on our table, two of the three servers took turns coming back to our table asking if we needed any replenishments. Each server would come back after five to seven minutes. Some may find the frequency annoying, but I am definitely in the camp that considers that to be excellent service. Clearly, they were attentive and excited to make us feel welcome and satisfied. I wish they had a restaurant in the Peninsula or SF, so I can frequent it much as I did back when I lived in the Southbay. But then again, it's only a 40 minute drive to get their amazing food and service. I'll definitely be back again soon.
